We received more donations this year than last, thanks to your attention and assistance in spreading the word about this opportunity to raise funds. In 2008, we reported $13, 980 in monetary donations and $34, 778 in food items, for a total of $46,758. This year, I am pleased to be able to report $16,909 in monetary donations and $61,897 in food items, for a total of $78,806. This is a 68% increase from last year's number!! Thank you for your support to this challenge! Note from the Emergency Food Pantry The Pantry is still in need of regular help to come on Tuesdays, Wednesday or Fridays. The grocery items we need are canned pasta, spaghetti sauce, Good Start Formula, jelly, small bottles of detergent, softener or all purpose cleaner, newborn and size 5 diapers, Pull Ups, tuna and Mac n' Cheese. The number of families we serve and new families has increased this month. I appreciate the many churches that regularly bring in donations. We no longer collect bottle because we may not repackage large bottles of anything. We are in immediate need of plastic grocery bags. I would appreciate you asking the congregations to bring in their plastic grocery bags as soon as possible. Thanks for your help. Note Community Meals Community Meals are running smoothly. We are in need of bulk sugar, Styrofoam coffee cups, 6" dessert plates and coffee for our Friday site at First Methodist Church. Note Support Services Funding this month from the Fenstermacher and Taylor Trust enabled 6 households to receive financial assistance for rent and approximately 12 households with financial assistance for utilities and 4 households with prescription and glasses assistance. We have exhausted the funds from these trusts; however, are currently assisting clients with funding from FEMA.
