For those of you who were unable to attend our parish ground breaking/blessing ceremony more pictures of this awe inspiring event are available on our website.  If you remember, last Sunday left us all wondering if Mother Nature was going to cooperate with our plans.  Just as we were concluding Mass the sun began to shine through the stained glass windows.  I believe everyone had a look of amazement and awe on their face at that moment.  Father Benn led everyone out in procession to the gated section of land where the soon to be reality gathering center will stand and most of us will enter through its doors to share in the Eucharist.

After Father Benn said a few words of thanksgiving, John Giese, Capital Campaign chairperson spoke followed by Jackie Harmansky on behalf of Parish Council, Ron Dinnocenti on behalf of the Building Committee and George Harmansky on behalf of the School as Sister Wanda was on vacation.

Jackie Harmansky capsulated this project and our future as a parish community with the following beautiful speech:

Blessing – as found in scripture means praise or desire that good fortune goes with a person or thing to God’s service.  Through the wonderful leadership of Father Benn we stand here today to break ground on the Gathering Center that was so many years in the making.  Just as Pastoral Council serves as link of communication between a Pastor and the people of the Parish, this Gathering Center – with its bricks and mortar -- will serve as a link of communication of its own.  No longer will our Saint Aloysius community experience the barriers of entering or exiting, nor is there to be a separation between the school and church. The Gathering Center allows for unity in access to all and all to come together. “That they may all be one” While appreciating that the parishioners of Saint Aloysius have recognized for at least the last 150 years that they can communicate with God, today we have proven -- with over a million dollars and a lot a prayers we can move some earth!
